Normandy landing beaches, Saint Malo and Mont Saint-Michel: Two-day tour in Normandy, Door to door
Enjoy this two-day break in the French countryside, and visit three great places! You will be picked up from your hotel at around 7 A.M. and drive through the green Normandy countryside to the coast in about three hours. You will have a friendly, English-speaking driver guide over the two days.
Day 1: Normandy landing beaches and memorials. You will see the famous Pegasus Bridge, then visit the Pegasus Memorial, with its collection of artifacts from the great moments of the landing and battle of Normandy. After lunch, you will visit Arromanches harbor. This will be followed by a visit to the St Laurent American cemetery, and then Pointe du Hoc. Enjoy a walk along Omaha Beach before going on to Saint-Malo, a holiday port. Dinner and overnight accommodation near Saint-Malo in a two-star hotel (or, possibly in a very decent bed and breakfast facility).
Day 2: In the morning, after breakfast, you will visit the pretty holiday town of Saint-Malo. This was the home port of many seafaring sail ships in the 17th century. After lunch you will drive to Mont Saint-Michel, a major cultural and pilgrimage center built on a rocky island in the 13th century. You will see the Gothic monastery, the ramparts, the remarkable cloister and rectory. After the visit, you are free to wander in the steep narrow streets. Return to your doorstep in Paris around 8 p.m. on the second day.
